IBC2006: As I was unable to attend the show I am indebted to good friends who here offer thei personal views on IBC2006. Could 'workmanlike' be the best description? Let's see..

We start with the excellent Dick Hobbs - dick@hobbsonline.tv - who's certainly upbeat:-

"This was actually a good year for the old 'launch ar NAB, deliver ar IBC' adage. To pluck two examples from the ether, Omnibus introduces its new-concept integrated automation system 1TX and Omneon unveiled it intermediate server MediaGrid in LasVegas. By September in Amsterdam Omnibus was shortlisted for an IBC award (of which more in a moment) and Omneon won the IABM Peter Wayne Award (see later).

"MSA Focus, though did not even bother with the launch at NAB part of the deal. They turned up at IBC with a new business system, ForeTV, as a genuine new product launch. During the build they got an email quer from Arts & Entertainment Latin America, replied that the new product would do what they wanted and signed the contract on Sunday."
